Join the Meadow team – starting September 2026
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Porter / Potwash Team Member to join us at Meadow Café and become part of our long-term team.
This would be a great role for someone aged 16+ who is looking to get into hospitality, gain experience and, if interested, develop into a Front-of-House role over time.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who can work Wednesday to Friday, plus some weekends, and who can commit to regular shifts throughout the year. This is intended as a longer-term position rather than just a summer or holiday role.
⸻
About the role:
You’ll play an important part in keeping the café running smoothly, supporting both our kitchen and Front-of-House teams.
Your main responsibilities will initially be pot washing, keeping kitchen and wash-up areas clean and organised, and helping the wider team with general cleaning and simple preparation tasks.
As you gain confidence and experience, there will be opportunities to learn other parts of the café and, for the right person, progress into Front of House — including running food, clearing tables, greeting customers, taking orders and learning drinks/barista skills.
No previous hospitality experience is essential. We’re much more interested in finding someone with a positive attitude, good work ethic and willingness to learn.
⸻
You’ll be a great fit if you:
Are aged 16 or over
Are reliable, punctual and happy to get stuck in
Take pride in keeping things clean and organised
Are comfortable working in a busy environment
Enjoy being part of a team and helping others
Have a positive, friendly attitude
Are keen to learn new skills
Would be interested in developing into a Front-of-House role in due course
Can ideally work Wednesday–Friday and some weekends
⸻
Key responsibilities:
Pot washing and keeping on top of dishes during service
Keeping the wash-up and kitchen areas clean, tidy and organised
General cleaning and maintaining high hygiene standards
Helping with simple kitchen and food-prep tasks where appropriate
Supporting the FOH team with clearing and resetting tables when needed
Helping with opening and closing cleaning routines
Working with the wider team to keep busy services running smoothly
Over time, learning FOH skills such as running food, customer service, taking orders and making drinks
⸻
What we offer:
Starting salary depending on role/experience
Flexible shifts across the week, working Wednesday to Sunday (0830-1700).
Holiday pay, tips and pension
Free staff meals on shift
The chance to join a new independent business
A relaxed, friendly team environment with room to grow
⸻
To apply, send your CV and a short cover letter to jobs@meadowsomerset.com
We can’t wait to hear from you!
