***Open Wed-Sunday for Brunch, Lunch & Sauna***
We invite visitors to make a suggested donation of £4 per adult, with all profits going to the Countryside Regeneration Trust (CRT).
Children under 12 are welcome free of charge.
You can donate:
Online before or after your visit
Via the collection bucket at the Cafe check-in
Every donation helps support the important work of the CRT while helping us maintain and share these special meadows.
The meadows began in 2015 ahead of Amy and Olly’s wedding in 2016.
The land has historically been used as fruit-growing areas and a cricket ground for the Flying Geese Cricket Club before being divided into three grazing fields for dairy cattle. The wildflower restoration project started with annual meadow planting before gradually introducing biennial and perennial species.
Today the meadows cover approximately six acres and are managed using traditional methods:
Grazed by livestock during spring and autumn
Cut for hay at the end of summer
Managed to encourage native flowers, insects and wildlife
The ponds, originally dug in the 1980s, have become important habitats for birds, aquatic life and insects.
These meadows are carefully managed for wildlife and conservation. Following these simple rules helps protect the flowers, habitats and species that make this place special.
Please Stay On The Cut Trails
The paths have been carefully cut through the meadows to minimise disturbance.
Do not leave the designated routes, even for photographs.
Most sections of the trail are intentionally narrow to reduce damage to grasses and wildflowers.
Please walk in single file and avoid walking side-by-side through the meadows.
Wider Paths Around The Ponds
The pond areas have wider paths and open spaces where families can spread out a little more.
Hand-holding, family groups and stopping to enjoy the views are very welcome here.
No Flower Picking
Please leave all flowers exactly where you find them so everyone can enjoy them throughout the season and wildlife can continue to benefit from them.
No Dogs
Unfortunately dogs are not permitted anywhere on the meadow walk routes, due to sensitive nature of the area, disturbing wildlife and ground nesting birds.
No Picnics
Please do not bring any food or drink into the meadow
Respect Wildlife
Please observe wildlife quietly and from a distance.
Avoid disturbing birds, insects and any animals you may encounter.
Respect Fishermen
The ponds are occasionally used by anglers.
If fishing is taking place, please keep a respectful distance and avoid disturbing them while they enjoy the water.
Children
Children are very welcome but must remain supervised at all times, particularly around ponds and watercourses.
Leave No Trace
Please take all litter home with you or use the bins provided around the café area.
Deep Water
Strictly no swimming in the ponds and caution must be taken at all times due to deep water.
