***Open 9am - 3.30pm Wednesday to Saturday***
Something new is coming at the foot of the Quantocks.
Meadow Café is a fresh, independent café and community hub opening in August 2025 on the former Podshavers site in Bishops Lydeard. We’re creating a relaxed and welcoming space that celebrates good food, great coffee, local connection, and the simple pleasures of Somerset life.
From morning flat whites to sunset rotisserie chicken, weekend live music to woodland saunas, Meadow is more than just a café – it’s a space for people to gather, unwind, and enjoy the moment.
Now we’re building our launch team – and we’re looking for friendly, passionate people who want to be part of something from the ground up.
Whether you’re an experienced barista, a front-of-house natural, or a rising star in the kitchen, we’d love to hear from you. We are always on the look out for great talent, so please feel free to get in touch at jobs@meadowsomerset.com.

We’re looking for a Front-of-House Team Lead to join our brand-new café in Bishops Lydeard. Ideally, you’ll have some hospitality experience under your belt – but if you’ve worked in other people-focused roles and are keen to get stuck in, learn quickly, and take responsibility, we’d love to hear from you.
This role is all about being a team-player, observant, detail-driven, and proactive. You’ll be the person keeping an eye across the café floor, spotting when tables need attention, ensuring smooth communication between the kitchen and FOH team, and making sure every guest feels welcome and well looked after.
It’s a hands-on role – you’ll be on the floor with the team, setting the tone, and helping to deliver excellent service day after day, stepping in wherever needed.
About the role:
As FOH Team Lead, you’ll be the face of Meadow Café – greeting guests with warmth, making sure service runs smoothly, and leading the team through our busy breakfast and lunch services. You’ll help keep things moving, solve problems on the spot, and make sure every guest leaves happy.
This is a great opportunity to join a new venue from the very beginning, shape the customer experience, and grow with us as the business expands.
What you’ll do:
Leading the FOH team on the floor during service
Welcoming and seating guests, ensuring a warm and memorable first impression
Keeping an eye on the café floor – spotting when guests need attention or tables have waited too long
Taking orders and running food/drinks
Supporting barista, drinks, and light food prep when needed
Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented café at all times
Keeping communication flowing between FOH and kitchen
Supporting with daily open/close routines, stock checks, and training new team members
You’ll be a great fit if you:
Have experience in hospitality or keen to transition from other roles, and are eager to step into a lead position where training will be provided.
Are observant and detail-oriented – you notice when things aren’t running smoothly and act quickly
Bring warmth, confidence, and a big smile to every guest interaction
Stay calm under pressure and thrive in a busy service environment
Enjoy working in a team and leading by example
Are reliable, organised, and motivated to make things better every day
Bonus: you’ve led shifts or supervised a team before
What we offer:
Salary depending on experience + tips
4-days/week (Wednesday–Saturday, 08:30–16:00)
Holiday pay and pension
Free staff meals on shift
The chance to join a new independent café from the very beginning
A friendly, relaxed team environment with room to grow
